Police Beat: Blatant sex offender sought
Hamilton Police are seeking public help in locating a cunning sexual offender who targets young girls.
East Hamilton Community Constable Craig Aplin said officers had been investigating incidents from the afternoon of October 6 at Hillcrest Normal School and Jansen Park.
"The offender has targeted two 11-year-old girls and two other girls aged 12 and 13 years old.
"It appears the man approached children in the playgrounds of the school and park, exposed himself and then carried out an indecent act.
"Fortunately there was a church group at the school and when the adults raised the alarm and went to investigate, the offender fled."
Mr Aplin said a particular concern for police was the man's blatant behaviour and it appeared to involve a reasonable degree of prior planning.
"Speaking to people after the event and reviewing security camera footage it appears the man carried out a thorough reconnaissance before approaching the girls."
The male Caucasian is in his late 20s to early 30s, about 179cm tall, of medium build and with short brown hair. "We also believe he may have had a crooked front tooth and a dimple on his right cheek."
