Nominations for Hamilton's Civic Awards can be made online.

The annual awards celebrate significant contributions made to the city and community by Hamilton residents. Up to 20 awards are bestowed by the mayor in a special ceremony in the Hamilton City Council Chamber.

Mayor Julie Hardaker says the awards recognise Hamiltonians who have made a significant contribution in various fields of work, from voluntary roles, business or sport to professional and educational accomplishments.

"It is wonderful to be able to acknowledge and thank people who have done something special for our city," she says.

"The introduction of a new online nomination form makes it quicker and easier to nominate worthy people."

Nominations are open, and online entry forms can be found via the Popular Links page at www.hamilton.co.nz.

To make written nominations contact civic events co-ordinator Tracey Wood on 838 6981 for information.

Nominations close on October 24, with awards bestowed on December 14.
