Crash closes Pembroke St carpark

An elderly driver escaped harm in an accident on the top floor of a Hamilton carpark - but the guard rail and barrier were not so fortunate.

The top two floors of the Waikato Hospital's Pembroke Street carpark will be closed for 10 days from next week while repairs are carried out.

All hospital visitors, including people with clinic appointments, should use the main Hague Road carpark from Tuesday, 13 November until Friday 23 November.

Hospital security manager Dean Ria said the 83-year-old driver hit the accelerator instead of the brakes and but was uninjured.
