$100,000 to spend on performing arts

Nominations are being sought for an allocation committee to distribute Hamilton City Council's $100,000 Performing Arts Contestable Fund.

The fund supports projects which contribute to the development of sustainable performing arts programmes, audience growth and enhance the skills of performing arts organisations, or practitioners in Hamilton.

Allocation of the fund will be by a six-person committee, comprising Hamilton City Councillor Margaret Forsyth and five members of the public.

Councillor Forsyth says individuals interested in joining the committee must demonstrate a strong knowledge of the performing arts, financial and project management abilities, marketing awareness and experience in funding allocations.

"Those who join the committee should also have influence and experience in the local performing arts community," says Councillor Forsyth.

Nominees will need to be available for two full days in September to deliberate on the allocation of the funding.

An outline of the Performing Arts Contestable Fund and nomination forms for the allocation committee are available by emailing funding@hcc.govt.nz.

The committee will be named next month.
